How do I enroll my child?
Enrollment will be determined based on space availability and a waiting list is maintained by the Preschool.
  • Prior to the child's first day, the following must be completed/signed and on file at the preschool:
    1. Student Registration Form
    2. Financial Agreement
    3. Receipt of Parent Handbook / Permission Form
    4. Child Health Information and Release Form
    5. Permission to administer Medicine / Diaper Cream (if applicable)
    6. Copy of current immunization records according to the AAP and CDC recommended schedule.  Immunization exemptions are accepted with the following documentation completed and on file.
    7. Registration/Supply Fee. This is a non-refundable fee.  It will be charged for each child registered.  Please note, the registration fee is not required if your child is added to our waitlist.  Registration is due once a spot is available and you wish to secure.
We suggest the following prior to enrollment:
  • The Preschool Director interviews parents or guardians. The Preschool's purpose, objectives, program descriptions, and policies will be explained.
  • Parents or guardians schedule an appointment for the child to visit the Preschool to allow the child to become familiar with the staff and surroundings.  This visit must take place before the child's first day and can be combined with the parent tour.

  • Registration fees are paid in full.  Sibling discounts and tuition assistance do not apply to registration.
  • Tuition is due on the first of each month and will be paid according to a payment plan chosen by the parent or guardian.  If the Preschool is closed on 1st, payment is due on the first day that the Preschool is open after the 1st of the month.

What is your Curriculum and Instruction for Preschool?
The curriculum of Pittsboro Baptist Preschool encourages opportunities for the continued growth of children socially, cognitively, physically, and spiritually in a developmentally appropriate manner.  The curriculum is designed to have children experience a variety of materials and activities. It also enhances their awareness, curiosity, and creativity by providing hands-on participation. This approach allows children to pursue their own interests and provides the individual child with a curriculum that is based on developmental needs.
  • Our schoolwide curriculum is used as the basis for planning.
  • Our staff plans and implements curriculum based on indivual assessment of the children. Children are assessed continually during the school year and conferences are held with parents as needed or requested.
  • The daily schedule is desgned to provide a balance of activities: indoor/outdoor, indivual/small/group/large group, quiet/active, fine motor/gross motor. A minimum amount of time is allotted to teacher-centered activities.
  • The class routine/schedule and daily learning objectives are posted in each classroom.
  • At least four of the following learning center will be available o children each day: art and o ther creative play, books, blocks, manipulatives, and home living/dramatic play.  Since models of crafts limit creativity, they will be used sparingly.
  • Self-help skills and day-to-day tasks such as toileting, eating and social interactions are incorporated into the overall curriculum.
  • Visitors, field trips, and special occasions are planned as enrichments to the curriculum.
What is your Guidance and Behavior Management Policy?
Praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of positive guidance.  When young children experience positive interactions with adults, they develop healthy self-concepts and learn problem-solving abilities and self-discipline.  To provide effective methods for the guidance of children, Pittsboro Baptist Preschool has adopted the following policy.

The Preschool will practice the following behavior management policy.
WE DO:
  • Praise, reward, and encourage.
  • Set reasonable limits.
  • Model appropriate behavior.
  • Modify the classroom environment to prevent problems before they occur.
  • Listen.
  • Provide alternatives for inappropriate behavior.
  • Provide children with the natural and logical consequences for their behavior.
  • Treat children as people and respect their needs.
  • Ignore minor misbehaviors.
  • Explain expectations on the child's level.
  • Use short supervised periods of "time-out."
  • Stay consistent in our behavior management program.
WE DO NOT:
  • Spank, shake, bite, push, pull, slap or otherwise physically punish.
  • Make fun of, yell at, threaten, make sarcastic remarks about, use profanity, or otherwise verbally abuse.
  • Shame or punish when bathroom accidnets occur; deny food or rest.
  • Relate discipline to eating, resting or sleeping.
  • Leave alone, unattended or without supervision.
  • Place in locked rooms, closets or boxes; allow discipline of children by children.
  • Criticize, make fun of or otherwise belittle children's parents, families or ethnic groups.
"Time Out" - When a child has not responded to all the other positive guidance techniques, we will use "time out," during which the child will go to a quiet space that is out of the main activity of the classroom but is in the teacher's sight for a very brief time.  After an interval of no more than one minute for each year of the child's age, not to exceed five minutes, the child will return to his or her regular activities. This time allows the child to exercise self-control. With the help of the teacher, older Preschoolers can begin to examine situations and learn to make better choices.

Your child's growth, development and well-being are our main priority.  If we have difficulty resolving a discipline problem, parents will be contacted.  Should severe discipline problems occur (i.e. consistent interruption that prevents normal classroom activities or excessive aggressive behavior) that cannot be resolved, the Preschool would, as a last resort, have the option to dismiss the child.
